if anyone was wondering my absense, it is like this:
I got DSL finally (WOOOOOT!!!!!) and so went on to try other games that I had been dieing to try out (but couldn't due to dial up)

however after several events beyond my control, I have found myself... bored again.

so don't be surprised if you see the occasional dragon wander here and there.

heh, personally the best 'looking' ship of mine is actually pretty obsolete now... I made it for colonizing new systems, hence the 21 habitats, lol. now all it does is offer more surviveability...

unless you add boarding parties perhaps... sacrifice habitats for shots that hit directly at the other ships habitats.

heh, there you go, sacrifice 1 habitat per shot, ensuring:
1 hab
2 drone racks, engine, swarm
3 hold, scoop, spindizzy
is instantly destroyed upon impact (well.. I suppose 1 attack nano put directly on said targetted systems)

lol, would make an interesting tactic no?

throw in a 25% chance of failure +5% per intact hab on enemy ship, make it balanced

Actually, yes. In general, a pretty good specialisation.

The crew on board the drone do the fine targetting. Pretty brutal sending them to their death though.

Toss in some story item about escape pods, or protection from their ships DL perhaps, then it won't be so brutal.

Hmmm... hey, what about making such "sniping" drones require at least 1 DL? The story part of that could be in the previous paragraph, and it would limit this drone's use a little more.

actually... the thought behind it is instead of normal attack nano that destroys whatever, the crew boards the enemy ship in hopes of sabotaging specific systems, such as another habitat, or some drone racks.

however the boarding party is going to obviously run into some trouble attempting it... namely the crew of the other ship... and the more intact habitats on the ship, the more crew that is able to stop them.

btw, sorry if you thought I meant 1 hab and 2 drone racks and such... I meant a way of selecting the target, or it randomly being picked. either 1 hab is destroyed, or 2 drone/engines, or 3 of whatever else. this would give ships a very much needed reason for extra habs, as only having 1 hab may result in it being destroyed in 1 shot by a lucky boarding party.
