I can hardly believe it, I am sitting at home typing into the forum from my own computer. My wait of more than a year is finally over, I have internet again! (I can't think of a phrase strong enough to express my joy, so insert whatever comes to mind.)
(>")> <("<) (^")^ v("v) (>")> <("<) (^")^ v("v)
Unfortunately, as it turns out the reason I lost the internet before has not been completely resolved-my mother still has cancer. But no one is worried: the actual tumor was removed long ago, my mom was on interferon which suppressed the cancer even more, and we don't need to concern ourselves with cost or quality-she is now a patient at a hospital which is the primary research center for her kind of cancer.
So, good news all around! Well, except for a minor piece of bad news for me: I have to get caught up with everything that's gone on in my abscence. And on that note, I'm off to peruse rule changes and old topics. _________________ Arch-Mage of the EM and the Magefolk

Indeed, it does. Thanks for the welcome.
Well now, I have the RipSpace rules done. Time to finally re-enter the action, which seems to have intensified sine the beta days. _________________ Arch-Mage of the EM and the Magefolk

RipSpace is pending the new Epic Bloom rules, which I've implemented. But I have to test them, which at the same time stress out the java 6 runtime - ie I'm going to force everyone to upgrade.
Then I have to update the rules, and then I can start concentrating on playing it again. I think the Epic Bloom rules should provide a really good focus/goal for all players.
But who knows? Maybe it will not be enough.

From what I read in the Epic Blooms thread compared to what is currently in the rules, I think you may be right. (About it being a good goal.)
By the way, do you mean upgrade to Java 6.5 or something? I redownloaded Java before RipsSpace and Tartarus and I think that was the version I saw.
...
Ah, finally. Last time I tried getting my RipSpace turn it didn't work. I worried I left my fleet alone too long while reading the rules, but the problem is resolved now. _________________ Arch-Mage of the EM and the Magefolk

Oooh.... the client is so much more friendly than in the beta days! Lots of useful info, and there are constant reminders on what most things do. The FarMail is a nice touch, with a nifty name too.
Plus, colonization has helped to stave off the boredom these past few hours, lol. Too bad I still haven't gotten much done. _________________ Arch-Mage of the EM and the Magefolk

Well, I have now updated the help pages for RipSpace.
The Quick Start guide is my attempt to make it simpler for new players. again....
Any suggestions on obvious stuff I missed?
Hope to release the code tomorrow, but that can easily slip to mid-week. |

Wow, that quick start guide would have been helpful a few days ago, lol.
I don't recall if you missed anything, but I'm stil (re?)learning myself.
EDIT:
Oh, except perhaps a mention on how to use FarMail. It took me a while to figure that one out. _________________ Arch-Mage of the EM and the Magefolk
