I see the new rules were implemented and you can see all mines in a beholder field.
I just realized the fallacy in this though. Someone builds ships like mapmaker with 22 guns and lights up the map making mining ops alot less effective and bigger ships get to start bombarding everything. A fleet of large ships will shoot it out while small ships lose anywhere to hide and have to outrun the attack drones.
Maybe this just means people will have to adapt better tactics and mines are more a screen then an actual weapon. _________________ The Shadow |

*blink* Oh, so thats what happened. I loaded up one system and there are mines EVERYWHERE. Looks like a density pattern of 1 mine every 3 hexes. Wow. I'm tempted to surrender him the system just because it looks like a star-field.
Hmmm, I need an across the board strategy rethink. |

My first thoughts when I saw the change:
"Oh the humanity! The galaxy is ending, the galaxy is ending!" (Lol, or something close to that.)
Lol, I love the change and yet it is scary, but I hope/expect it won't be as scary when starting a new fight.
Haha, this is crazy fun. Now some of my ships have an advantage too to boot.
EDIT:
Hmmm... should mines inside scrambler zone be hidden? _________________ Arch-Mage of the EM and the Magefolk

Mines inside a scrambler should probably be hidden. I'll fix it. |

I'm not sure this is working correctly at the moment anyway, as the last time I loaded my turn up I could see mines that were in dark sections of the map.
I've got one or two ships that are right on top of my own mines, so I'm gonna have to me them quick before they start targetting everything. _________________ Constantly pushing back the boundaries of Human Stupidity. |

You can see your own mines in dark sections of the map.
You can see mines (in play back last turn) if those mines were involved in combat - even in dark sections of the map.
You have a couple of turns to move out of your own mine fields. |

Yeah I realise that. But I could see Mapmaker's mine fields, as well as my own of course. _________________ Constantly pushing back the boundaries of Human Stupidity. |

So are you saying mines are going to start targeting your own ships/ drones soon? _________________ The Shadow |

Yes. Mines are getting dumber.
Once engaged in conflict it is going to be a fast road to obliteration.....
Actually, partly that, and partly it should encorage use of some of the other weapons we have.
Also distance to target is going to be a key player, mobile ships that can move to the side of a mine field, and duck back behind it....etc etc should all be more valid after these changes.

I can still see all of Mapmakers mine fields in Sienenan, none of them are in a beholders range. _________________ Constantly pushing back the boundaries of Human Stupidity. |

I'm seeing enemy mines, both deployed and not, outside a beholder field... granted, they all just appeared within a small radius around one of my ships, but that's niether here nor there... |

A mine within 3 hexes of your ship shows up as well. So if you move 3 or less per turn, mines should never surprise you. |
