Faraway Games is a one man band - Jonathan Gibbons, aka, me.
I wrote Tartarus back in 1998, my first game open to people I didn't know, and over the years that followed the rules changed, clans came and went, and many battles were won and lost. At one point over 300 people were playing, although it has since dropped.
It's been great fun, mainly because of the players, a varied and interesting bunch, who find gaps in game mechanics and exploit them for victory.
So, since I like writing games, I have now done RipSpace, and no doubt it will be similar. If you fancy both games, then great, if you want to try just one then great as well.
These games have never covered costs, but have been rewarding in other ways, so please sign up, join in and have fun. The games are aimed at thoughtful war gamers - thinking beyond the moment should make all the difference.
Please be polite, treat this place like a church, or a Star Trek script. You can taunt your enemies, you can lie and be political. But do not be personally abusive, or attack the people who play, rather than their forces. Just because you have a thick skin does not mean the other players have.
Overall, have fun, these are games, and that is all a game should be.
