This was a Mauler Class ship, fighting the undead monsters in Gshashui. Our fleet's core was the Khan, supported by a Dreadnaught, battleship and a cruiser. The preceding battle had smashed the dreadnaught, and damaged the cruiser, while the 'Sacred Oak' battleship was a recent jump in from the deep dark. The Nosferatu fleet's core were two dreadnaught, supported by cruisers.
Our dreadnaught's heavy damage meant the fleet had spun to the edge of the system in prep for a retreat jump out of the system. The undead gave chase and rather than jump my fleet opened up - with fantastic effect. The Kahn's superior fire power was really blasting huge chunks out of the Nosferatu's Vlad class cruiser. The captain of the Khan was sitting secure in the last remaining hab. The vessel was damaged, but still about 55% of systems remained, with many drone racks still functional. It was the best fight against the undead that the Khan had been in.
Then two drones from the enemy Terpes class dreadnaughts smashed into the Khan's hull. One landed close to the remaining hab, and the captain was shaken, but took a chance. For the Khan to jump out would mean instant defeat for the rest of the fleet. The Khan's broadsides were vital to the fight.
This was his last mistake, the nano in the engine compartment ate a vital containment component and caused a massive explosion. The fireball smashed through bulkheads and roared through the hab, burning the remaining crew and the captain in seconds of inferno.
The wrath shook, the Dark Light core shimmered and vanished and RipSpace opened to claim the Khan for eternity.
The remaining Shaman vessels call desperatly for help, their captains are grim, and they know that unless help arrives the battle is lost.
We doubt the Nosferatu have any feelings at all. But if they do then they must be thanking their shipwrights for such superb designs. Especially their heavily armoured cruisers.
